• 1944 Gibson Banner J-45

Guitar Superlative & scarce 1944 Banner J-45 in exceptionally fine condition, rare original maple body and neck with spruce top. Hands down the best J-45 I've had the pleasure of playing, no doubt owing to the maple. Rare for '44, this one's got a truss rod - that's never been turned. Hard to say which is cleaner, the guitar or it's original hard shell case. This one's got it all boys, as good as it gets for a J-45. The maple back, sides and neck are unusual for Gibson, at least on flat tops. It's really only a few of their best known, top of the line models, like the J-200 ( other than the first 100, which were rosewood ) & Nick Lucas ( other than the less desirable versions ), that used maple for those components. Yup, just those. No others. Oh yeah - except for all of the greatest Gibson archtops ever made, that is; the L-5, Super 400, Byrdland, Johnny Smith, Citation, & Trini Lopez ( kidding ). But wait - weren't the '20's F-5s made of the same materials, including nearly all of the Loars? Point is, some folks look down on the small number of original Banner J-45s that were maple, which must suck for them; for the same reasons and in the same ways as all of these other Gibson instruments that used these same materials, the maple J-45s are exceptional guitars. You'll rarely find an early J-45 in this condition ( sorry about the reflections ), on top of the sound and playability of this one.

Guitar Two circa 1965 Hofner Beatle Basses, two different looks for some reason, hopefully one appeals to you.
  • 2006 & 2007 Gretsch Country Gentlemen

Guitar As in two of them ( 2006 & 2007 ). It's plural man. Anyway, this seems to be the trend here lately; late model guitars that look like they never left the factory. Or something like that. New / unplayed condition, one with F holes, one without. It's a great look either way, no?
  • John Lennon Rick 325 - 1990

  • 1971 Manuel Contreras

Guitar This guitar is essentially in new condition, or very close to it. Beautiful tight, straight grain Brazilian rosewood and amazingly even, tight grain spruce. 664 mm scale length or there abouts, 52 mm nut width. As soon as I learn how to play classical guitar I'll post my impressions of it.
  • MARTIN 000-28EC

Guitar Take your pick; natural or shaded top, both in new condition. Of all the Martin 000-28EC models I've seen, these are definitely the most recent. Ok, not funny. Actually one is from 2011 and the other 2018. These are wonderful instruments. Buy one today. Or two.
  • 1986 GUILD D-66

Guitar Designed in conjunction with George Gruhn, the D-66 is one of the best sounding flattops Guild ever made. Rosewood, spruce, mahogany & ebony, and relatively ornate too.
  • 1966 Gibson J-160E

Guitar Cleanest one I've ever had, or seen for that matter. 1966 Gibson J-160E that plays like a dream and sounds quite good. Clean as a pin, as they say. Near - mint condition. And yet... it's stamped as a factory second with the usual numeral 2 on the back of the headstock. Go figure.
  • 2011 Martin 000-28EC

Guitar 2011 Martin 000-28EC in mint condition, correct Martin case in the same condition. Wonderful playability and of course it sounds quite great.
  • 1952 Martin D-28

Guitar Unusually nice, one owner '52 D-28 that plays extremely well, with beautiful straight grained Brazilian thoughout and a very even grained spruce top. Crack free and original other than a newer bridge & pick guard, with minimal wear and great color. Oh, and did I already say that it plays really well? Yeah, I did, but it bears repeating. Original case too, in very good condition.
