One of the last and best efforts of Rolfe Gerehardt, the Select was voiced for Bluegrass. Some were made with a bridge made of antler on a maple base as well as maple neck, back, and sides, and ebony fingerboard, and this one has an exceptionally even, tight grained Adirondack spruce top, all of which adds up to an impressive sounding mandolin. Unusually beautiful, creative inlays such as the ones seen here were an optional feature, and these speak for themselves. If you're still reading this you probably already know about these instruments. Unlike so many I come across, this one is not "out of stock". Yet -
